Today is Mandela today. Apart from our Happy Sunday, we would also like to wish you a Happy Mandela Day.
If you do not know who Nelson Mandela is - where have YOU been?
In short, he was the former President of South Africa and played a major role in the fight against Apartheid (racial segregation). His goal was to transform a racially-segregated South Africa into a “rainbow nation”, which he successfully achieved. Mandela did not give up on his dream of one day living in a non-racist country, where people would not see each other for their race but for their souls. It took him 27 years in prison just to achieve this.
We all have our fair share of struggles but that does not mean we should just give up. If pain comes along the way, we need to learn to accept the pain and move on. Even if that pain is draining and does not seem to go away fast - be patient with yourself and know there will be an end to this pain. No matter how far fetched your goal is, know this:
Today is Mandela Day. Today is his birthday.
Every Mandela Day, citizens all across the globe are encouraged to spend 67 minutes of their time to serve their community - this is done to show appreciation to Mandela for his 67 years in his fight for racial equality, justice and human rights for all.
Take 67 minutes of your time today and do something good for the community. This does not necessarily have to be something monetary like donating money to a big organization, but can be an action as small as checking up on a friend or talking to someone randomly on your way to work or college. Let us create a smile on someone’s face - sometimes a smile, whether on our face or on someone else’s face can heal the pain :)
You are amazing and we urge you NEVER to give up!
